What did Quarles do to Brady in Justified? ›

Hughes was a street hustler who was held hostage by Robert Quarles. Wynn Duffy came across him bound to the bed and gagged while looking for the bathroom in "Harlan Roulette". In "When the Guns Come Out", he is killed offscreen by Quarles (who is frustrated by the FBI looking into his case thanks to Raylan Givens).

Quarles also knows that there is a bounty on his head, but before he can get an answer from Duffy, Boyd tasers him in the back of the neck. Boyd orders the two prostitutes to strip the unconscious Quarles and orders Jimmy to chain him to the bed.

However, Graham Yost stated his character is alive, following Justified's rule that “unless you see someone zipped up in a body bag, they're probably okay.” Indeed, Quarles could have survived had he received medical attention in time, and Timothy Olyphant's Raylan never confirmed his death.

Raylan mentions Bergen's death, and Quarles claims he did not kill him. Errol ambushes Quarles and they shoot each other, while Limehouse cuts the latter's arm off with a cleaver. As he dies, he reveals that Arlo killed Bergen.
